The Associate of Arts degree provides the first two years of a liberal arts education and will prepare you with a sound artistic foundation required to successfully pursue a career in the fine arts, or an art degree at the university level.
Get an unparalleled education opportunity by checking out work from nationally known artists at the Tyler Museum of Art, a world-class art museum on TJC’s campus and across the street from our art studios. The TMA features traveling exhibitions and a permanent collection of more than 1,500 works.

Art Faculty
Our art faculty members are talented in their own right, and they cover a wide variety of disciplines from drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, to mixed media and ceramics. Students in our program develop well-rounded portfolios and learn a variety of artistic skills, as well as the important role art has in culture and history.
What our Students Say
"The TJC Art Department was a life changer for me. The professors are welcoming to all students of any major and want the art department to be a place of community, a place where you can go and forget about the pressure of school, a place you can feel at home.
"In that department, I learned that I have the freedom to express myself through my work in a way that is true to myself and that is why I am still making work today. I am now teaching my students how to do that and it brings joy to be able to think back to when I was a student at TJC and give my students a little bit of the knowledge and creativity that was instilled in me."
