TJC Systems Maintenance: 3/28-30/25

TJC will be performing scheduled system maintenance Fri., 3/28, 7 p.m.-11:59 p.m. Sun., 3/30. Certain programs in Apache Access will not be available.

Available Testing

Whether you are a new student, a current student or a community member, we offer a professional setting for you to take your exams. Through our Testing Services department, we offer many different testing and assessment services, including:

TSI Placement Testing: The TSI placement test will measure your skill levels in reading comprehension, writing/English, and mathematics. Prior to taking the TSI Placement Exam, you must participate in a Pre-Assessment Activity.

Bennett Mechanical Test: The Industrial Maintenance and Powerplant Technology programs require you to take the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test (BMCT). This is a timed test and it is free. A minimum score of 42 needs to be achieved before being allowed to register for courses in these programs.

GED: The GED measures skills in four subject areas.  All tests must be taken and passed to earn your high school equivalency diploma.  The amount of time required to complete the entire battery of tests is 425 minutes. To schedule an appointment for the GED, please visit https://ged.com. You will need to create an account and follow the on-screen prompts for scheduling the testing. 

HESI Testing (only for TJC Students): The HESI Test is a comprehensive exam that evaluates the academic and social skills of new applicants to many of our Allied Health programs. This exam evaluates your math skills, reading skills, science knowledge, vocabulary, social interaction, stress level, learning style, and personality profile. We administer the HESI by appointment only. The cost of the HESI and proctoring is $79. You must visit with a program representative prior to testing. We administer the HESI to TJC students in the Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Echocardiography, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Radiology Technology programs.

ATI - Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), Critical Thinking, and Fundamentals (Only for TJC Students): 

  • The ATI TEAS Exam is a comprehensive exam that evaluates the academic skills of new applicants to some of our Allied Health programs. This test comprises four question sets. Each question set has a time limit of three minutes and contains one question. This exam evaluates your reading, math, science, and English skills. We administer the TEAS by appointment only. There is a $75.00 testing fee paid online to ATI Testing (that will be paid on the testing day).
  • The ATI Critical Thinking Exam measures the ability to conceptualize, apply, analyze and evaluate information in order to reach a meaningful conclusion. There is a $55 testing fee paid online to ATI Testing (that will be paid on the testing day).  
  • The ATI Fundamentals Exam comprises multiple-choice questions that evaluate your comprehension of critical nursing concepts. Every question tests your skills and ability to apply nursing concepts in real-world scenarios. There is a $45.00 testing fee paid online to ATI Testing (that will be paid on the testing day). A $25.00 proctoring fee will be applied (for the appointment, not for the test) on the testing day and will be paid at the testing center on the testing day.

Pearson-VUE: Pearson-VUE is the global leader in computer-based testing for IT, academic, and professional programs. Through our authorized Pearson-VUE Testing Center at TJC West, we offer a variety of computer-based tests on behalf of the world’s leading IT and professional companies, such as: ACSM, Adobe, Cisco, Microsoft, C++, Citrix, CompTIA, Oracle, and VMWare.

To schedule a test with our Pearson VUE Testing Center, you will need to visit the following website:www.pearsonvue.com/programs. Follow all onscreen prompts to set up your Pearson-VUE account and to schedule your exam. Please note that you should arrive at the TJC West testing facility 15 to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. An official photo ID is required at check-in.

ACT WorkKeys: WorkKeys is a division of ACT, Inc. that is dedicated to assessing what skills are necessary for employees to be successful in the workplace. ACT WorkKeys scores help job seekers compare their skills to the skills real jobs require. These scores help employers choose the most qualified candidates for their jobs.

Through WorkKeys, we offer a wide array of exams, including Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, Workplace Documents and Applied Technology. To schedule your WorkKeys exam, please contact our TJC WorkKeys Site Administrator at 903.510.2993. To set up a testing account for you, the Administrator will ask for your name and birthdate.

Texas Fire Commission on Fire Protection (TFCP), Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA), and State Firefighters' and Fire Marshalls' Association (SFFMA) professional exams also offered.
