TEAS for Physical Therapy
Physical therapist assistants (PTAs) provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and assist the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals with medical and health-related conditions which limit their ability to perform functional activities. Are you qualified to take the TEAS?
In order to take the ATI TEAS and be eligible for application to the PTA Program, applicants must have completed ENGL 1301 and BIOL 2401 with a grade of C or better. BIOL 2401 must have been completed within the last 5 years.*

What is the TEAS?
The ATI TEAS (Test of Academic Skills) is a standardized test covering a variety of areas relevant to healthcare education, including reading, mathematics, science, English, and language usage. The TEAS exam is designed specifically to assess a student’s preparedness to enter the health science fields. Read more about the ATI TEAS exam format.
Steps to Registering for the TEAS Exam:
1. Create a student account with ATI at www.atitesting.com:
- Click “create account” which is found on the right side of the home screen.
- Select “Tyler JC AH or Allied Health” from the Institutions drop-down menu.
- Create your username and password.
- Keep this login information in a safe place; as this information will be required on the day of the test.
2. To make an appointment with the Testing Center, please go to tjctesting.setmore.com. (Please note some firewalls may block directly linking to this site. If this happens to you, please open a browser and type in "TJCTesting.Setmore.com" and link to our booking page through this alternative option)
3. When you arrive for your appointment, you need to pay a $25.00 proctoring fee. Payment can be made at the Testing Center. The Testing Center will accept checks, credit cards, money orders, or cash payments. Make sure you have the following items at your appointment:
- ATI Username and Password
- Appointment Confirmation Email
- Proctor fee receipt
- Valid photo ID
4. Once you are logged in to your ATI account and the proctor has entered in the password code, you will be required to make an online payment of $65.00 to ATI.
NOTE: This will require a credit card or gift card. No debit cards allowed. You need to pay before proceeding with the exam.
5. The TEAS takes 3.5 hours to complete. Due to the length of the exam, we will not start a new TEAS exam within 4 hours of closing. For closing hours, you can visit www.tjc.edu/testing.
ATI TEAS Exam Requirements
The ATI TEAS is a standardized test covering a variety of areas relevant to healthcare education, including reading, mathematics, science, English and language usage.
Your ATI TEAS exam score must meet the following requirements:
• You must score a minimum of 50% or better on the Total Score
• You must score a minimum of 60% or better on the Reading Section
• You must score a minimum of 50% or better on the Human Anatomy and Physiology Section
• ATI TEAS must be completed within the two years prior to the application deadline
• An applicant may take the TEAS a maximum of two times in a single application period.
• If the applicant chooses to retake the TEAS, they must retake ALL sections. Failure to complete all sections on the retake will result in an exam attempt being invalid.

Students with disabilities that wish to request testing accommodations should contact Margaret Rapp, Disability Services Director, RSC 308, (903) 510 2878. In order to provide reasonable testing accommodations, requests must be made at least two weeks in advance of the testing date.
