Summer Financial Aid

If you’re looking to start or restart your college journey this summer with TJC, here are the steps you need to take to get aid for summer classes:

Enroll at TJC

To enroll at TJC, you must apply and submit a few documents, such as test scores and transcripts. Start Here. Once you’ve applied, check your Apache Access Traffic Lights for a comprehensive to-do list.

Complete your 2023-2024 FAFSA

You’ll need to complete your 2023-2024 FAFSA at studentaid.gov, and add TJC’s school code (003648) so we can get a copy. We will receive your FAFSA within 3-5 business days and send a status update to your TJC email account.

TIP: The FAFSA available on studentaid.gov is for the 2021-2022 school year. You must select the previous aid year, 2023-2024 FAFSA, to apply for summer aid.

TIP: If you've already done a 2022-2023 FAFSA for a previous institution, go back to studentaid.gov and add TJC's school code. 

Register for Classes

Register for May, Summer I, Summer Long, or Summer II courses now. They count as one semester when it comes to financial aid. To be eligible for aid, in most cases, you’ll need to be enrolled in at least six credit hours combined.

Complete your student requirements and be verified

Once your FAFSA is received, your Traffic Lights will guide you through the next steps to complete the financial aid process.

Review any awarded grants

Once we process your FAFSA and you’ve registered for classes, you’ll be able to see whether you’re eligible for any grants inside Apache Access within the next two weeks. Whether you have grant funds available will depend on how much grant aid you have already accepted this year and your estimated family contribution (EFC).

Applying for loans

If you still require financial aid to pay your balance, you can apply for a loan.

• To apply for a loan, you must fill out the Summer Loan Request E-form for the current year. The form is also located in Apache Access > Financial Aid > Financial Aid Traffic Lights > Download the Financial Aid Forms > Summer Loan Request
• Your eligibility depends on how much loan aid you’ve accepted in the current year and your financial need.
• Once you’ve submitted the form, you’ll need to check your Apache Access Traffic Lights for updates on the status of your request.
• This process is usually completed within two weeks but may require action on your part. Be sure to check your Apache Access Traffic Lights regularly to avoid delays.
