TJC faculty participate in semester-long program on active learning techniques

The TJC Center for Learning and Development recently celebrated the successful completion of its inaugural Active Learning Faculty Development Series.

This semester-long intensive program empowered faculty members to enhance student success through the exploration and implementation of active learning strategies.

Amanda Richardson, TJC director of learning and development, said, “We are so proud of all of the participants of this series and especially the 14 graduates who demonstrated a dedication to lifelong learning and continuous improvement of their craft.”

The series provided a unique opportunity for participants to:
    • Practice active learning techniques through hands-on workshops and simulations
    • Observe experienced practitioners in action
    • Reflect on their own teaching practices and identify areas for improvement
    • Discuss and collaborate with colleagues on implementing active learning strategies
    • Redesign their courses for a more engaging and transformative learning experience

“This series transformed my teaching practice,” said Jen Jennings, TJC professor of humanities and foreign language. “My students are more engaged, which makes learning more enjoyable for everyone and ultimately leads to greater student success.”
