David Brown, Tyler Junior College director of institutional research and analysis, has been named the recipient of the 2025 TAIR Outstanding Service Award.
The Texas Association for Institutional Research (TAIR) presents this award to an individual who has made exceptional contributions to institutional research, planning, evaluation and policy analysis in Texas higher education. Brown is the 23rd recipient of this award in the organization’s 47-year history.
“David’s dedication, expertise and consistent commitment to advancing the work of institutional research have made a significant impact, both here at Tyler Junior College and across the state,” said Britt Sabota, TJC administrative officer of records, reporting and research. “His leadership and service exemplify the values we hold dear at TJC, and we are incredibly proud to have him on our team.”
Brown said, “I am sincerely honored and grateful for this recognition from my peers across the state. It’s an absolute joy to serve an organization that improves the skills of professionals in this very specific field of data research.”
At the recent TAIR conference, Clay Hall, TJC data analyst, was elected the organization’s treasurer for the 2026-27 biennium.
Brown added, “I am so proud to see Clay elected to this position and for him to represent TJC as part of the next generation of researchers working to improve student success across the state.”
Brown has served TAIR in many capacities, including president in 2021 and vice president in 2020, as well as professional development officer in 2016 and 2015.
Before joining TJC in November 2022, he was associate vice chancellor of research and reporting at North Central Texas College. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Texas.
