Courtney C. Hensley, a TJC business major from Forney, has been named Executive State President of the Texas Junior College Student Government Association (TJCSGA) for the 2025-26 academic year.
“This means so much more to me than just a title or recognition — it’s about the action I’ll take and the impact I’ll make,” Hensley said. “It’s an opportunity to serve, lead with purpose, and create real change for student voices at the state level.”
Hensley admits that she first enrolled at TJC “on a whim,” just two days before her high school graduation.
“Originally, I was planning to attend a large university over 2,000 miles away from home, but something about TJC felt right,” she said. “It offered a strong sense of community, opportunities to grow as a leader, and a place where I could find direction. Choosing TJC was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made — it gave me a fresh start, a new purpose, and the chance to thrive in ways I could have never imagined.”
At TJC, she also serves as a resident assistant and is active in the Baptist Student Ministry, the TJC Legacy Council and the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
After TJC, she hopes to earn her bachelor’s degree in business at Southern Methodist University and then attend The University of Texas School of Law.
“I’m excited to continue building a strong academic foundation that will prepare me for a career in law and leadership,” she said. “My ultimate career goal is to become an attorney, with a particular interest in business litigation. However, I’m open to exploring different fields of law. Above all, I want to pursue a career that allows me to leave a lasting legacy and make a positive impact by helping others.”
She added, “TJC has been a place where I’ve found incredible support — both academically and personally. From professors who truly care to student organizations that have helped me grow as a leader, TJC has created an environment where every student, no matter their background, can succeed and feel seen.”
