TJC announces fire academy graduates

The Tyler Junior College Fire Academy has announced 22 graduates from its spring program.

“This was our 11th class of cadets, and it was our largest class so far,” said Capt. Andy King, academy director. “We are extremely proud of these cadets and wish them the best of luck as they go out to serve their communities.”

Class valedictorian was Kyle Zagurski, and salutatorian was Thomas Gregory.

Fire academy graduates and their hometowns are: Chase Bailey, Kemp; Rachel Burns, Grand Saline; Colton Campos, Marion; Corey Flores, Mabank; Wyatt Garton, Lone Star; Thomas Gregory, salutatorian, Whitehouse; Travis Hardy, Jacksonville; Brennon Hill, Grand Saline; Joshua Hill, Rusk; Bryton Judd, Tyler; Christin Kelm, Tyler; Luke LaCroix, Chandler; Brandon Morgan, Eustace; Austin Perry, Frankston; Antonio Rigle, Flint; Matthew Sharpe, Tyler; Cannon Simmons, Jacksonville; Josiah Villarreal, Tyler; Hayden Waldron, Lindale; Clayton Walker, Tyler; Tanner Walker, Flint; and Kyle Zagurski, valedictorian, Tyler.

The TJC Fire Academy is a 12-week course filled with academic and practical applications to train students for careers in fire service.

Registration is open for the academy’s 12th class, which begins Monday, Aug. 7. Application deadline is Friday, July 21.
