TJC science center sets laser shows, new ‘Moons’ dome show

Laser shows and a new film about moons will soon light up the 40-foot dome in the Center for Earth & Space Science Education at Tyler Junior College.

Laser shows running Oct. 26-28
Visitors can take a seat under the 40-foot dome and be immersed in sound as they watch brilliant lasers, millions of stars and full-dome digital effects performed to a range of musical genres from the Beatles to Pink Floyd, pop and rock.
 
The limited-engagement shows will run Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 26-28, at the TJC science center, located at 1411 E. Lake St., on the TJC main campus. Tickets are $5 per person per show and are available at the admission desk or online at sciencecenter.tjc.edu. Parking is free.
 
Thursday, Oct. 26
• 6 p.m. – Fright Light, featuring Halloween-themed tunes by Michael Jackson, Black Sabbath, Weird Al Yankovic and more
• 7 p.m. – Laser Beatles
 
Friday, Oct. 27
• 6 p.m. – Fright Light
• 7 p.m. – Laser Pop, featuring NSYNC, Pink, Smashmouth, Sting and more
• 8 p.m. – Laser Vinyl, featuring Queen, Van Halen, KISS, Boston, Journey, AC/DC and more
• 9 p.m. – Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”
 
Saturday, Oct. 28
• 6 p.m. – Fright Light
• 7 p.m. – Metallica
• 8 p.m. – Led Zeppelin
• 9 p.m. – Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon”
 
‘Moons: Worlds of Mystery’
“Moons: Worlds of Mystery” immerses audiences in the diversity of moons and the important roles they play in shaping the solar system.
 
The show runs 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, Oct. 31-Dec. 30. Admission is $5 for students, seniors and children, and $7 for adults.
 
Narrated by actor Ed Helms, known for his work in the hit TV series “The Office,” the 35-minute film follows in the footsteps of astronauts to the Earth’s moon, and then ventures beyond to unfamiliar and exotic worlds.
 
Audiences will journey to the outer planets and their moons, returning home with newfound wonder about the dynamic and intricate solar system in which we live.
