Apache Chiefs earn top honors at annual conference
The Apache Chiefs recently brought home top honors from the National Orientation Directors Association’s Region IV Conference held in Kansas City, Kansas.
The goal of the NODA conference is to help professionals and students in the fields of orientation, transition and retention to better their institution’s programs. There are also opportunities for students to participate in various activities and competitions while attending.
“The conference also focuses on developing student leaders beyond orientation and these students are ready to bring about change at our institution,” said Murphy Turner, TJC coordinator of New Student Orientation. “This year's team particularly has been very focused on serving our students and creating a community at TJC that puts the student first and prepares them for success.”
TJC Chiefs who won awards were:
• Haleigh Latham, sophomore, Arp, 2018 NODA Student Leader of the Year
• Payton Sadler, freshman, Grand Saline, Overall Best Undergraduate Case Study
• Beth Maddox, freshman, Van, Best Communication for Undergraduate Case Study
• Hannah Sanders, freshman, Lindale, Best Problem Solving for Undergraduate Case Study
Turner said, “This is the second year the entire team has traveled to the conference and it is the second year in a row that they have received the award for Best Overall Undergraduate Case Study.”
