TJC has announced New Student Orientation sessions for students entering TJC in fall 2018.
“New Student Orientation is a great introduction to life at TJC and offers our new Apaches an opportunity to register early for their fall semester classes,” said Murphy Turner, coordinator of TJC new student and family programs.
Sessions are available on the following dates:
• June 11 and 12 (Honors orientation)
• June 14 and 15
• June 18 and 19
• June 21 and 22
• July 12 and 13
• July 16 and 17
• July 19 and 20
By attending orientation before their first semester, new TJC students can:
• Become familiar with TJC’s 137-acre campus
• Meet with advisors and create their personal fall schedule
• Make connections with fellow new students
• Network with faculty, staff and administrators
“New Student Orientation really gave me a better look at what went on around campus,” said TJC student Emilee Rogers of Canton. Rogers is now a member of the Apache Chiefs, a group of student leaders who guide new students through orientation.
“NSO really solidified my decision and made me want to go to TJC even more than I already did.”
Cost is $50 per person, and the fee covers materials plus meals in the TJC dining hall. Students can pay an additional $20 for lodging in TJC residence halls.
Before registering for orientation, students need to have already applied for admission to TJC and met testing requirements.
Space is limited and early registration is encouraged. To register, go to www.tjc.edu/orientation.
Parents and family members are also encouraged to attend; and special sessions have been designed specifically with parents in mind, giving them an opportunity to meet and ask questions of faculty and staff. Family members can attend at an additional cost of $40 per person.
Students who require accommodations during orientation can contact Tina Dillman, in advance, to arrange interpreting services at 903-510-2841 or Margaret Rapp for all other disability accommodation needs at 903-510-2878.
For special needs with lodging, prior arrangements can be made by calling TJC Residential Life & Housing at 903-510-2345.
