Beginning this fall, aspiring musicians of all ages will be able to hone their skills – or even learn a new instrument – through the new TJC Academy of Music.
“We’re excited for this new opportunity to share music education with our community,” said Jeanie Oxler, chair of the TJC Department of Music.
The classes will be offered in the Wise Cultural Arts building on TJC’s main campus. Lessons in vocal and instrumental music will be taught by TJC faculty and additional area instructors.
Group lessons and private lessons will be offered, as well as the opportunity to enroll in the TJC Concert Choir and music appreciation courses.
All students will gain instruction in technique, performance skills, and music reading, Oxler added.
Group lessons will be offered at a significantly reduced rate; and private lessons will offer one-on-one instruction.
Most classes begin the week of Sept. 5. Registration is open now.
A complete listing of courses, dates and times is available in the TJC School of Continuing Studies Fall 2016 Course Catalog, which has been mailed to area homes and can be downloaded at www.tjc.edu/continuingstudies/catalog.
