Tyler Junior College Board of Trustees today confirmed Dr. Juan E. Mejia as the next TJC President.
Mejia, who was named the lone finalist for the position on May 1, previously served as TJC’s President for Branch Locations & District Provost. He now becomes only the seventh president of the 92-year-old institution.
Mejia will take the reins of Tyler Junior College on July 1, following the retirement of Chancellor and CEO Dr. Mike Metke.
“Tyler Junior College is a world-class institution, and I am very grateful to the College’s Board of Trustees for their visionary leadership and for their vote of confidence,” said Mejia. “We consider ourselves blessed that our communities have been so welcoming and so pro-education, and I am honored to work with stellar colleagues, who want to see us make additional progress toward student and community success.
“I look forward to again thanking everyone who has been wonderful to us throughout our time in East Texas, as I sincerely believe that community engagement is paramount for the betterment of our region.
“I join everyone who is celebrating the amazing legacy of Dr. Michael Metke,” added Mejia.
