Jeff Hassett recently joined Tyler Junior College as chief information officer (CIO), overseeing TJC’s Office of Technology Services.
“We are glad to welcome Jeff to TJC,” said Kim Lessner, TJC vice president for marketing and enrollment services & chief communications officer. “His expertise in the private business sector as well as in higher education information technology will be great assets to our College.”
He previously served at Brigham Young University – Idaho, where he held roles of deputy CIO, chief information security officer and managing director of IT operations.
Hassett has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology field, including private sector experience in finance, manufacturing, insurance and healthcare industries as well as higher education for both private and public institutions.
His private sector experience includes technology areas of security, infrastructure and software design and implementation including projects at large organizations including Walt Disney, United Airlines, Lockheed Martin and Square D Electronics.
His experience in higher education includes management roles in quality assurance, infrastructure, security and support as well as eight years as a full-time faculty member at the University of Utah.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in business management and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Utah. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
