Dr. Mike Metke, who recently retired as chancellor and CEO of Tyler Junior College, has received the 6th annual Jesse Jones Leadership Award from the North Texas Community College Consortium (NTCCC).
The award was presented during NTCCC’s annual fall leadership conference held Sept. 13, at TJC.
Recipients are nominated by NTCCC board members in recognition of contributions made to their respective college and/or the Consortium in outstanding leadership; dedicated service; and excellence in communication, cooperation and collaboration.
TJC President Dr. Juan E. Mejia, who provided opening remarks to the attendees during the conference and during his comments, said, “Dr. Metke is a stellar leader, and this award recognizes his significant contributions to community colleges in our region and throughout the country.”
Metke retired from TJC in June, after serving 12 years at TJC.
Mejia added, “Under his leadership, the College experienced a significant era of successful milestones, all benefiting the communities of the greater Tyler area.”
