The Tyler Junior College Wind Ensemble will offer three performances this week, at Bullard High School and on the TJC main campus.
The TJC Wind Ensemble is led by TJC Director of Bands Jeremy Strickland, with guest conducting by Dr. Eddie Airheart, TJC assistant director of bands and professor of woodwinds.
The group will perform “Cornerstones,” its first program of the spring semester, on Wednesday and Thursday in the Bullard High School Auditorium.
The program includes “Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger, “First Suite” by Gustav Holst, “Soldier’s Blood March” by Franz von Blon, “Gone” by Scott McAllister, and more.
The public is invited to attend the pre-concert rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the concert performance at 7 p.m. Thursday. Admission is free.
On Saturday, the TJC Wind Ensemble will serve as the demonstration performance group for “Pedagogy from the Podium,” a Texas Bandmasters Association Clinic, led by clinician Fred J. Allen, retired director of bands from Stephen F. Austin State University.
The clinic will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in Jean Browne Theatre on the TJC main campus. The event is intended for area band directors to earn continuing education credits, but it is also open to the public. Admission is $10 per person.
