Tyler Junior College music professor Micah Bell has been honored by his alma mater, Texas Christian University.
At a recent TCU football game, Bell was named to the TCU Ex-Bandsmen Association Band of Fame, which honors alumni and other individuals who have contributed in a significant way to the vision and mission of the TCU Band program.
“I couldn’t be more grateful for this honor,” Bell said. “I had such a tremendous experience as a student at TCU and am so excited to be included among these musicians that I respect so highly.”
A native of Rowlett, Bell earned his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Trumpet Performance degrees from TCU in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
Now in his sixth year as a full-time professor at TJC, Bell teaches trumpet and ear training, directs one of the TJC jazz ensembles and assists with the marching band.
He also performs professionally and is a composer and arranger. He has written several pieces that have premiered at the Texas Music Educators Association’s annual convention as well several other international festivals and conventions around the world.
