Rebecca Sanders has joined Tyler Junior College as director of public affairs and media relations.
In her new position, Sanders serves as the initial contact for media inquiries, coordinates media events and interview requests, and develops TJC’s external communications strategy. She began her duties at TJC this week.
Most recently, she was director of public relations at Brookshire Grocery Company, where her responsibilities included external communications, media relations, consumer relations and grand opening events. She is a past recipient of the “Top Women in Grocery” award and has presented at several industry conferences.
“Rebecca brings a wealth of knowledge and experience working with the community and the media, and we are excited to have her join the marketing team at TJC,” said Kim Lessner, TJC executive director of marketing, media and communications.
Sanders has also served on several boards in Tyler and Smith County, including Bethesda Health Clinic, United Way and the American Red Cross. She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
