TJC to host free seminar for first-time homebuyers

TJC will offer a free seminar for first-time homebuyers from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, in the Southside Bank Room of the Robert M. Rogers Nursing and Health Sciences Center.

TJC Professor Charles Cowell will help attendees understand the steps a homebuyer goes through including financing, shopping for, negotiating and closing on a home.

The seminar also includes information buyers should know after they become homeowners, such as principal and interest, taxes, insurance, repairs and utilities. Cowell, a TJC professor in business management and computer information systems, is also coordinator of the college’s real estate management program.

“Purchasing a home is the largest investment most people will make, and we want to equip potential buyers with the information they need to have the greatest experience both before and after the sale is completed,” Cowell said.

Although there is no cost for the seminar, registration is required due to limited seating. To register, call 903-216-7000 or email ccow@tjc.edu. Please include name, number attending, phone number and email address for each attendee.
