Tyler Junior College has a full slate of events scheduled for its 2022 Homecoming Week, set Monday-Saturday, Oct. 17-22.
This year’s theme is “The Greatest Show on Turf.”
Monday, Oct. 17
TJC Homecoming Week officially began Monday morning, with the traditional drum beat opening ceremony on the front steps of Rogers Student Center on the TJC main campus.
TJC President and CEO Dr. Juan E. Mejia led the countdown to the drum beat, the Apache Punch drumline and TJC Cheer performed, and the TJC homecoming court was introduced.
TJC student M.J. Carnegie, from The Colony, is the first of many TJC students and employees who will keep the drum beating 24 hours a day until kickoff of Saturday’s homecoming football game.

Tuesday, Oct. 18
TJC students will show off their performance skills in Campus Capers, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in Wise Auditorium, located in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center on the TJC main campus.
In this “amateur night” talent show, students compete for cash prizes to be awarded for the top three performances. The homecoming court will also be presented. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Thursday, Oct. 20
The homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Rogers Nursing and Health Sciences Center parking lot on East First Street.
The parade route will wind through campus and end at Pat Hartley Field, located at the corner of East Fifth Street and Palmer Avenue.
After the parade, a block party featuring food and games will be held in the parking lot next to Pat Hartley Field.
At 8:30 p.m., the TJC Apache Band, Apache Belles and TJC Cheer will perform, and the Apache football team and 2022 homecoming court will be introduced. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.

Saturday, Oct. 22
The TJC Alumni Association will host its annual Homecoming Tailgate Party from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, in the parking lot between Mike Carter Field and Rose Stadium. Admission is free for TJC lifetime alumni association members or $10 per person for non-members.
The Apache Band, Apache Belles and their alumni will take their traditional Rim Walk into the stadium at 2 p.m., followed by pregame activities and the crowning of this year’s homecoming king and queen.
At 3 p.m., the TJC Apaches will kick off in their homecoming game against the Cisco College Wranglers.
The Apache Band and Apache Belles, who are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, will perform a high-energy halftime show featuring the music of Justin Timberlake.
General admission is $5, reserved seating is $7, and children ages 14 and under are admitted for free. TJC employees and students are also admitted for free with their TJC ID.
